Care For Your Teeth While You Sleep

Now that we’re nearing the start of spring, how are your New Year’s dental health resolutions looking? Maybe you fell off the wagon a bit around Valentine’s Day (don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us) and need a little pick-me-up. If you’re like most people, this is a busy time of year, and it can be hard to squeeze in one more thing. That’s why we’ve put together a list of some easy ways to improve your oral health while you sleep!

First, switch to an electric toothbrush. Not only will you get a better, more thorough clean, you’ll save yourself some energy. With so many models to choose from, consider writing your brand of toothbrush on your grocery list before you go look for replacement heads.

You should always brush and floss before bed. Eight hours is a long time for bacteria to grow and plaque to solidify, so give your mouth a break by cleaning it before you visit dreamland. Make sure you use a good technique–don’t just slap your toothbrush in there and call it a day. Plan to spend at least two minutes brushing, and another minute or so flossing. Focus on the backs of teeth, which can easily get overlooked.

If you find you’re waking up with a dull headache, a sore jaw, or your partner yelling “stop grinding your teeth!” you may well be grinding your teeth. This can lead to all sorts of dental problems, so come see us at Jordan Dentistry and let’s work out some solutions. Regular visits with your dentist are the best thing you can do for your teeth, so call us today!
