3D Imaging
Some dental problems require more accurate imaging than routine digital x-rays can provide. When highly customized treatment plans are needed, 3D x-rays taking dental imaging to the next level while providing less radiation than traditional x-rays. This highly detailed imaging can also provide a better evaluation of the results of treatment or procedures.
The images from 3D x-rays allow Dr. Sherry R. Jordan to view the structures of the head, face, and mouth in amazing detail from all perspectives, rotate and view at different angles or different depths.
Cone beam CT imaging is also used to describe 3D imaging. The invisible x-ray beam produced by the scanner is cone-shaped, providing images of the head from many perspectives. These images are compiled into a 3D (three dimensional) representation. Jordan Dentistry uses 3D scanning to visualize teeth, roots, gums, nerves, bones, and airways as well as how these relate to each other.
It is completely painless and quick to have 3D scanning. The patient is standing or sitting with the chin in a special stabilizer while the scanner rotates around the head. Radiation exposure is brief and minimal. The 3D images are produced instantly on a computer screen and are easily shared with other doctors as needed.
