Dental Bridges

Gaps in the teeth and an incomplete smile can cause major discomfort for most patients.  A defective smile can be distressing enough to keep some patients from going out into public.  Dr. Sherry R. Jordan can fix your smile and make public appearances less stressful.

Jordan Dentistry can make your smile whole again by filling the gaps with a dental bridge.  A bridge is an appliance that is custom-made with replacement teeth on a “bridge” that is attached to the remaining teeth in the mouth.  The false teeth are usually made of porcelain and are made in the same color as the rest of the teeth to look natural.

The most popular type is a traditional bridge.  The bridge is bonded to two crowns that have been cemented to the two abutting teeth (the teeth on each side of the gap).

A more economical type is a Maryland bridge.  This bridge is cemented directly to the two abutting teeth instead of placing crowns on those teeth.

A Cantilever bridge is effective when there is only one tooth available for attaching the bridge.  With a Cantilever bridge, a single crown is used.

The strongest and most stable option is an implant-supported bridge.  Implants and crowns are placed for the abutting teeth, and the bridge is suspended between them.  This type of bridge takes longer to put into place.
