Digital X-rays

Jordan Dentistry offers digital x-rays for a safer and more efficient method to examine the teeth, bones, and tissues of the oral cavity.  Digital x-rays are obtained with up to 90% less radiation than traditional film x-rays.  Our state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment and precaution procedures are designed to keep our patients as safe as possible. 

Digital x-rays can be obtained inside (intraoral) or outside the mouth (extraoral).  The procedure is similar to traditional x-ray procedures, except the images are instantly available to be viewed on a computer screen, reducing the wait to be diagnosed. 

Once the image is available, it is possible to enlarge or magnify any area needing closer examination, reducing the necessity of additional imaging.  Storage and retrieval of digital x-rays are also faster and more convenient than hard copy films.  Copes can be easily sent to other doctors or specialists who may need them. 

During an examination at Jordan Dentistry, we can only see the teeth above the gum line.  Problems may arise in the areas hidden from view, such as the tooth roots, the jaw, the gums, or inaccessible areas between the teeth.  Digital x-rays are the best way to see these areas and achieve quick diagnoses as well as track the progression or healing of infections.
