Getting Your Kids to Brush

How to get your kid to brush their teeth

How do I get my kids to brush their teeth? This is a question we are often asked, and an issue that many parents face. It’s not always easy to convince a child that brushing is very important to their health. Let’s face it, brushing your teeth is not nearly as appealing as eating candy. There is hope though! Jordan Dentistry has compiled a list of strategies to inspire your child to brush their teeth.

  • One of the simplest ways to inspire your kid to brush, is to lead by example. Brush your teeth with your kid, and often times, they will follow.
  • Let them pick out their own toothbrush and toothpaste. When your child feels that it is theirdecision, they will be more likely to brush.
  • Make it fun! Sing a song, or make a game out of it. See who can make the most foam while brushing. Make it a contest between you and them.
  • Start brushing early. The earlier your child start brushing, the easier it will be to form habits. Brush their teeth for them, schedule a dental appointment as early as possible and get the ball rolling.
  • A reward chart is always great incentive for a kid. Find stickers they like, and when they do a good job brushing, reward them with one.

We hope this list helps you to inspire your children to brush! Remember, like adults, kids like to have fun. Make the experience a good one for them to ensure a lifetime of great dental health!
