Know How to Spot Oral Cancer Early

Did you know that in the United States alone, 42,000 people will be diagnosed with oral Dental Examcancer? Though these numbers are worrisome, it is very treatable. Jordan Dentistry wants its patients to be equipped with the facts and signs, so oral cancer can be spotted early. The earlier the signs are caught, the easier the cancer is to treat.

Next time you brush your teeth, check for any of these signs:

  • A sore, or irritation that doesn’t go away
  • Red or white patches
  • Pain, tenderness or numbness in the mouth or lips
  • A lump, thickening, rough spot, crust or small eroded area
  • Difficulty chewing, swallowing, speaking or moving your tongue or jaw
  • A change in the way your teeth fit together when you close your mouth

So how do you move forward if you notice any of these symptoms? Firstly, don’t panic and automatically assume its cancer, it may be nothing. This is also not something to ignore, schedule an appointment with your dentist for a check-up and tell them everything you have noticed.

If you are exhibiting some of these symptoms, please schedule an appointment with us, or a dentist near you.
