November 1st is National Brush Day

What is a Dr. Jordan’s favorite day of the year? November 1st because it’s National Brush Day!

National Brush DayInaugural National Brush Day is November 1st, 2013. This day was established by the Ad Council and the Partnerships for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives to encourage good oral hygine habits for kids and families. They choose November 1st as the perfect day for this special dental holiday because it is of course the day after Halloween – after all of the little witches and goblins have eaten their weight in candy.

Dentists and health experts agree, that brushing for two minutes for twice a day is one of the best things you can do to encourage good oral health and prevent gum disease. National Brush Day aims to promote awareness of this simple habit for kids of all ages. On their website – – there are all kinds of resources for parents and kids alike. There, parents can find a simple to follow graph of when they should be doing what kind of dental care for their youngest children. For the kids, there are interactive games and two minute videos to watch while they brush to make that “eternity” feel a lot less “eternal.” There is a great Brush Checklist resource that gives parents a way to keep track of their kid’s brushing routine, and give rewards for a job well done. Parents can even register their cell phones to get kids’ oral health tips texted to them.

Dr. Jordan hopes that your family takes the National Brush Day pledge to always brush for two minutes, twice a day for optimal oral health. And, don’t forget to schedule your regular teeth cleanings with Dr. Jordan, your Cumming, Georgia family dentist!
